The Melanoma Law

Use of sunbeds before the age of 35 increases can increase your risk of skin cancer by 60%. Despite this they remain legal and relatively unregulated in the UK, with 38% of people using them being unaware of the risks.

We used the law itself to show policy makers how much damage sunbeds can do. Placed on a sunbed for the average time an adult spends over a year, the printed law became damaged, showing the effect it has on people’s skin.

The process was filmed, and used to raise awareness to the wider public of the dangers of sunbed use. Whist encouraging them to call for change to the legislation. The damaged law was sent to politicians, journalists and influencers. Lobbying parliament to change the way sunbeds are regulated in the UK.
